Graffiti Kisses

Oscar Wilde died on 30th November 1900.  He is buried in Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris.  His tomb, a modernist angel, was designed by Jacob Epstein.

The tomb is covered in kiss graffiti.

The epitaph is a verse from The Ballad of Reading Gaol:[162]

And alien tears will fill for him
Pity’s long-broken urn,
For his mourners will be outcast men,
And outcasts always mourn.
