The other side of the pillow

Tucked away on Wilton Way is ‘The Other Side of the Pillow’.  Not just another vintage boutique a la mode, the shop site is steeped in history having been a shoe repair shop from 1932 to the late 90s and the stock is bona fide retro swag.  “We are historians at heart & enjoy most our past-time of travelling the world on the hunt for untouched treasures, with great ambitions for influencing fashion & pushing the boundaries of vintage retail” explains Henry di Nino.

Henry and Maurizio, the pair responsible for this vintage venture, spent years stock-hunting, without premeditating a boutique, until their collections became so large a premises became necessary and the selling of their deadstock booty logical.  Henry has always had a penchant for sportswear from the time he grew up in Australia: “focusing on the 70’s & 80’s deadstock clothing & trainers including arguably Europe’s biggest selection of vintage vans footwear dating back to 1966. Maurizio’s Italian heritage on the other hand gives him more of an eye for 50’s & 60’s homewares, electronics, sunglasses, spectacles and hand-made Italian track bikes.”

It is surprising how well these different elements marry and the shop feels eccentric but homely at the same time.
