There is always something rather stately about an Erdem show, beauty and elegance is mandatory and the fash pack always seem a little giddy when they leave. The SS12 collection of delicate florals took on an ‘English Country Garden’ feel with pale and mid tone blue blooms on a base of white with green and yellow tones coming in and just a splash of red poppies.
The dress shapes alternated between strappy summer frocks and more grown up high-neck, mid-length sleeve shifts that hugged the figure but resonated with first lady class. An exciting first from Erdem came in the form of a prim white shirt with mini spots tucked into high waisted hotpants. Not a garment we are used to seeing from this master of pretty dresses yet the hotpants somehow managed to retain the feminine elegance for which he is renowned.
Many looks were styled with gloves and hats but there was nothing antiquated about this very modern sophistication. For those attending weddings this summer Erdem has instantly arranged your wardrobe so you will look cool yet hit all the right notes of grace and style.
